Today was the day to celebrate success in Mrs. Gray's first grade! Each firstie was recognized for their growth throughout the year at our blue carpet celebration. Special awards were given for most growth and highest scores in benchmark areas. We also celebrated two students who met every benchmark goal set for them this year!
The excitement and pride they shared with each other made this afternoon extra special! These students are going to do some awesome things in second grade!

Check out this short video for your elementary kiddos around what a digital footprint really means. We already K-5 students posting and interacting online, so let's start some good habits early! http://bit.ly/OlyDFV2

How do you engage students during the last week of school? You break out the LEGO Spike Kits and have them do some building & coding! Thank you Miss Vanessa for facilitating this experience and thank you to State Farm for the donation that made this possible.

The Oly South Spartans remained active today by participating in various stations and games during field day. Appreciation is extended to all volunteers and staff, particularly Mr. Padilla, for their contributions to today's success!

Today was the day Mrs. Gray's first graders had been waiting for and working for! Students earned one tattoo for each MAP reading and math test point they improved from their January scores, as well as, one tattoo for each reading level they improved since December. They were able to "tat the teacher" which resulted in 463 tattoos being placed on Mrs. Gray, Miss Maggie, Mrs. Sadler and Mrs. Steve.
Way to go, first graders, on all of your hard work and for reaching your goals!

Lots of students are exploring and developing their own identities, and they often do this online and on social media. Some kids use multiple accounts, each for a different audience, but with this, what’s real and what’s unrealistic can often get blurred. In this video, your kids can hear other teens talk about the ins and outs of presenting themselves to others online, and consider what it means to “be yourself” in digital spaces.

Thursday, May 15th was officially titled "Miss Jamie Day" and Olympia South! Students and staff celebrated Miss Jamie and her upcoming retirement during lunch. Thank you to Miss Jamie for all of your hard work and years of service in the Olympia District!

All Library books are due back Fri, may 16, 2025.

As tweens and teens start sharing content and engaging with others online, it's vital for them to understand what they're leaving behind and what they might reveal. Help guide kids toward creating the kind of footprint they can be proud of @ http://bit.ly/Oly2DF

Many kids are already posting and sharing information about themselves. Listen to what these teens have to say about sharing on social media. Are you making the right sharing decisions?
