Our 4th graders had an incredible time exploring the Lincoln Museum, visiting the tomb, and walking through Lincoln's home. It was a wonderful day of stepping back in time and learning about the life and legacy of our 16th president.

Celebrating Mrs. Hawker!
Today we are so incredibly lucky to celebrate Mrs. Hawker for Administrative Professionals Day!

Mrs. Hawker is the heartbeat of Olympia South Elementary. From the warm smile that greets our students every morning to the steady hand that keeps our office running smoothly, she truly does it all.

Whether she’s assisting a student, answering endless phone calls, or keeping our staff organized and on track, she does it with grace, kindness, and unmatched dedication.

Thank you, Mrs. Hawker, for everything you do to make our school a better place. We appreciate you more than words can say!

After learning about the 20th Century Civil Rights Movement, a group of third graders decided to become change makers themselves. They completed an audit of the school library and decided there needed to be more picture books that show characters with disabilities. Then, they made videos and wrote letters presenting their findings to Oly South's PTO and requested a wishlist of books. Much to their excitement, they learned that the PTO bought all ten books on their list! These books will be given to the library for students at South to enjoy for years to come. 💙🩵"Kids don't just inherit the future; they shape it today." 💙🩵

Huge shout-out to the OSE Paraprofessional team! We will be celebrating as a whole school on April 17, we wanted to get the party started early.

From providing 1-on-1 support and leading small groups to being the extra set of hands (and hearts) our students need every day. We couldn't do what we do without their dedication, patience, and kindness.

Please join us in saying a massive THANK YOU to our paras! Leave a comment or drop a "💙" below with a shout-out for a paraprofessional who has made a difference for your student.

Olympia will be using an e-Learning day today, Monday, March 16th due to very limited visibility throughout the district.   Elementary students should work on their packets and OHMS students should login to their classes.  Additional information will come from OHMS administrators and teachers.

The forecast shows snow and winds continuing through mid-morning.  We anticipate after school activities will go on as scheduled but any changes will be communicated by coaches and sponsors.

Thank you.

🏐 The Ultimate Dodgeball Showdown! 🏐
Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and... dodge! 💨

The energy was electric Friday at Olympia South as our Staff took on the ultimate challengers in our Dodgeball Showdown! This wasn't just any game—the staff faced off against our PTO Dodgeball Tournament winners AND two special "Dream Teams" of students!

✨ Winners on and off the court
These lucky students were surprised with a spot on the roster after having their names drawn for consistently:
Being Kind, Being Safe and Being Ready to Learn.

The students brought the speed, but the staff brought the "old school" strategy (and maybe some sore shoulders for the next day🧊👀). The gym was filled with nothing but cheers and Olympia South spirit!

[ 120 Days of Making Magic at the Happiest Place on Earth...1st Grade at OSE! ] On Thursday, first graders at South celebrated all of the growth, learning and fun that has happened in our first 120 days, Disney style! Students learned about the four parks of Disney World and modes of Disney transportation. They were able to get our itinerary set up with correct times, measure characters to determine if they were tall enough to ride the rides, were given a budget with a snack menu to decide what treats they would get, completed a ride review of their favorite ride of the day and wrote a post card letter to tell their families about our day. In between our work, we were able to virtually ride four rides, catch a show and a parade, and ended the day at Cinderella's castle for the fireworks show. Based on the smiles, squeals and screams throughout our day, it's safe to say the 120th day was the most magical day in first grade!!
