At Olympia South Elementary, Nurse Alicia is so much more than just a medical expert. She is a source of comfort, a calm voice in moments of stress, and a true advocate for the well-being of every single one of our students.
Whether she is handling bumps and bruises with a gentle touch, managing complex health needs, or simply offering a kind word to a student who needs it, she approaches every day with immense care and professionalism. At Olympia South, being a Super Spartan means more than just following the rules—it means rising to the challenge. This month, we are incredibly proud to recognize our students who have mastered the art of Problem Solving.

Thanks to the generosity of the Olympia Foundation for Education (OFFE) we received a class set of microphone/headphones. Throughout the last few months, third grade students have been learning about podcasts and eventually created their own.
They began by listening to various podcasts to build background knowledge, transitioned into brainstorming and scriptwriting and even designed their own unique podcast cover art. This week, we reached our final milestone as many of the students successfully recorded their very own podcasts!
Don’t forget—it’s Grandparent’s Day! We are so excited to welcome everyone from 8:00 am - 9:45 am. Come by and visit the book fair, check out all the fun activities, and spend some quality time with family. We can’t wait to see you!

Our 4th graders had an incredible time exploring the Lincoln Museum, visiting the tomb, and walking through Lincoln's home. It was a wonderful day of stepping back in time and learning about the life and legacy of our 16th president.

Attention Olympia South Parents. The PTO meeting scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for NEXT Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in the Olympia South Library, 6:30p.m. Officer elections will take place at this meeting. Please come if you can.
After learning about the 20th Century Civil Rights Movement, a group of third graders decided to become change makers themselves. They completed an audit of the school library and decided there needed to be more picture books that show characters with disabilities. Then, they made videos and wrote letters presenting their findings to Oly South's PTO and requested a wishlist of books. Much to their excitement, they learned that the PTO bought all ten books on their list! These books will be given to the library for students at South to enjoy for years to come.
