Olympia High School STEM Club was awarded a transportation grant from the American Mold Builders Association to attend the Smartforce Student Summit at IMTS 2018 in Chicago Illinois. This summit took place on Friday September 14th. The purpose of this trip was to educate, inform and excite students about careers in the manufacturing industry. The IMTS trip allowed students to visit with leading technologies which included: design, 3D printing/rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing, machine and tool monitoring, automation, robotics, measurement, data acquisition and analytics, and the Cloud. Students had an opportunity to meet individuals currently working in these fields and ask questions. Overall this trip increased their knowledge within STEM related fields, use of technology within industries and allowed students to network with those within the field.
