The middle school softball game, middle school baseball game, high school girls golf match and high school boys golf match are all cancelled for today.

Today was our PBIS Kickoff at OMS! Every OMS student took part in a series of stations that helped us learn (or review) our school-wide behavior expectations. These activities were super important as all students got the same message at the same time about what it means to be respectful, responsible, and how to have positive relationships at OMS.

We’re building a positive school culture together, and this was the first big step toward making 2025-2026 an awesome year!

Middle school varsity baseball fell at Pleasant Plains today 5-2. Spartans will be at Chatham Glenwood Monday at 4:30.

Middle school varsity baseball gets the win tonight vs Maroa Forsyth 12-4. JV falls in the second game 7-1. Both teams are on the road at Pleasant Plains Saturday, first game starts at 10:00.

The Transportation Team is ready to roll into the 25-26 school year!

OMS Softball took on the Evans Eagles tonight. 8th grade picked up a big win, scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. 7th grade lost a hard fought game in extra innings. They will travel to take on the Heyworth Hornets on Friday, August 15th @ 4:30. Photo Credit: Laura Kruger Photography

The Olympia Middle School staff kicked off the 2025-2026 school year by diving into our theme: “Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude.” Through collaboration and connection, our team shared the steps we’ll take to bring positivity, creativity, and joy into every day. Together, we’re committed to making this year an unforgettable journey for our students, staff, and families.

The 7th and 8th grade OMS Lady Spartans Softball teams kicked off their season with impressive 2–1 records in their opening week. They’ll return to the field on Wednesday, August 8th, at 4:30 PM, facing Evans Junior High at Olympia. Come cheer on your Lady Spartans and show your support!

Olympia Middle School is thrilled to welcome Ms. Natalie Chambers back to Olympia. Ms. Chambers previously served as the Reading Interventionist at OMS during the 2020-2021 school year.. Before stepping into her new role, she taught English Language Arts at both the high school and middle school level and has a strong background in helping students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. This year, Ms. Chambers will bring her enthusiasm for literature and her dedication to student success to our 8th grade classrooms. We are excited to have her join the OMS family!

Olympia Middle School is thrilled to welcome Ms. Addison Gerdes to our 7th grade team! Many of our students and staff already know Ms. Gerdes from her work last year as our OHMS permanent substitute teacher. Before joining the Olympia community, she taught as an elementary teacher and served as an interventionist in northern Illinois. This year, Ms. Gerdes will bring her passion for learning and student success to 7th grade Science. We are so excited to have her on board!

Middle school baseball practice times reminders: Today(Aug 8th) 3:30-5:30. Saturday (Aug 9th) 9:00-11:00. Monday (Aug 11th) 3:30-5:30, parent meeting will be after practice at 5:30 at the baseball field.

Middle school baseball reminder: Tryouts for Thursday, August 7th will be 3:30-5:30.

Middle school baseball tryouts are moved to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday still at 4:30 at the high school. Field is too wet for tryouts today.

Reminders for Monday, August 4th. Middle school baseball tryouts will be at 4:30 at the high school. Players will need to be registered on 8to18 and have their updated physical forms turned into the office.

OMS Softball Tryouts are canceled for today, Wednesday July 30th. They will resume tomorrow, Thursday July 31st from 3-5 at the OHS softball fields.

Reminder: OMS Girls Softball Tryouts are Coming Soon! Mark your calendars for July 28th–30th, from 5:30–7:30 PM at the OHS Softball Fields. All athletes must be registered on 8to18 and have a current sports physical on file to participate.

Middle School baseball tryouts will begin Monday, August 4th from 4:30 to 6:30 at the high school baseball fields. Tryouts will be Monday through Wednesday. Make sure all players are registered and have physical paperwork submitted to the high school office before August 4th.

Fall sports and activities are fast approaching. Make sure to get registered on https://schools.snap.app/OlympiaHS and have an updated physical turned in.
