Chatting online can feel just like talking to someone in person, but it's actually quite different. It's all because of something called the "online disinhibition effect," which makes us more likely to share/communicate differently than if in person.

Each year we have an expert teacher panel comprised of Olympia teachers from all five buildings in our district come to our New Teacher Academy to answer questions around teaching and learning. These conversations and partnerships are instrumental in supporting our new teachers here in Spartan Nation. Thank you to all who attended tonight!

The Spartans were met with a beautiful day and a tremendous course to race on Saturday morning. Our teams were set to qualify for Sectionals and both sides accomplished that task.
The Spartan ladies kicked off the running success by giving #2 State-ranked Eureka a great competition. We were only 12 points off with 57 to Eureka’s 45. Amelia Kistner made a sensational turnaround from last season running on the same course. She was 2 minutes faster than last year while running 18:48 and earning a 4th place medal! Emma Swartzendruber, new to postseason racing, finished second for our squad in 19:15! Our scorers were rounded out by Anna Bieber, Chrystal Cornwell, and Abby Litwiller (19:39, 20:03, and 20:24). Cam Lawson ran closely to our top 5 with a time of 20:40, and Rachel Andris followed in 22:41.
The boys’ side outperformed rankings while finishing 4th behind a strong U-High squad, Eureka, and El Paso-Gridley. We narrowly beat Heyworth by 3 points (173-176). The Spartans were a tale of two tight packs with one strong center piece in their race Saturday. Logan Demling, Cooper Phillips, and Caden Clark were within 18 seconds of one another (16:31, 16:35, and 16:49). C.J. Moore was the glue that stuck the packs together with a time of 17:36. Our second pack saw Logan Farquhar move well, leading Jacob Lawless and Evan Petri to a 54 second split between the 3 runners (18:48, 19:27, 19:42).
Spartans XC is back to racing on Wednesday for our JV runners at Maxwell Park in Normal and at Sectionals in Elmwood on Saturday morning.
